Gabbi Garcia said she was taken by surprise by the news that her perennial leading man Ruru Madrid will join the cast of GMA-7’s upcoming primetime series Alyas Robin Hood Book 2.
“I actually didn’t know about it. I was also surprised that he was part of it,” said Gabbi, who went solo at the unveiling of YES! Magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful Stars at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City, last night, July 11.
She continued, “I’m very happy for Ruru, by the way, for him joining Alyas Robin Hood.”
Ruru, for his part, escorted Alyas Robin Hood co-star Andrea Torres at the red-carpet event.
Pointing at the Kapuso actor who was standing a few feet away from her, Gabbi cheerfully exclaimed, “Ayan si Ruru! Hindi naman kami hiwalay, di ba?
“And as for the GabRu love team, actually we still work together every Sunday on Sunday PinaSaya.
“Wala namang hiwalayang totally na naganap.”
Speaking to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), the 18-year-old Kapuso actress said she understands GMA-7 management’s decision to let her and Ruru work on individual projects.
“It’s like exploring your own path and career. Eventually, we have to grow as an artist.
“We can’t just stay as a love team. We’ve been a love team for the past three years, by the way.
“So, no hard feelings. It’s just reality. It’s our career, it’s [part of] the industry.”
“After Encantadia, I took a break. And it felt really good to reboot yourself, to have a fresh start.
“And now, I’m up to almost all magazine shoots. I have many upcoming covers, so stay tuned for it.”
GABBI’S CAREER PATH. Asked about her career plans, Gabbi said that she’s ready to take on what the network bosses want for her showbiz career.
“I’m not denying naman na I won’t do it. But, we’ll see.
“We’ll cross the bridge when we get there.
“But my mind is still concentrating in other things pa”.
